Infoblox vNIOS for Proxmox is a virtual appliance designed for deployment on the Proxmox virtual environment (VE), a Debian Linux-based open-source platform that supports deployment of virtual machines and containers. The platform not only integrates computing, storage, and network resources but also manages highly available clusters. The virtual NIOS appliance enables you to deploy virtual instances of large, high-performance, robust, manageable, and cost-effective Infoblox Grids.

The NIOS virtual appliance for Proxmox functions as a hardware virtual machine guest on a Linux system. It provides integrated, secure, and easy-to-manage DNS (Domain Name System), DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), IPAM (IP address management), DNS Infrastructure Protection, DCA (DNS Cache Acceleration), and reporting services. Additionally, it provides a framework for integrating all components of the modular Infoblox solution. For more information about the Infoblox Grid, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, reporting, DNS Infrastructure Protection, and DNS Cache Acceleration, refer to the *[Infoblox NIOS Documentation](https://docs.infoblox.com/)*. NIOS also provides TFTP, HTTP, NTP, and FTP file transfer services.

You can deploy a vNIOS instance for Proxmox as a Grid Master, Grid Master Candidate, or Grid member. You can also deploy vNIOS instances in a high availability (HA) pair or a hybrid HA pair.

For the list of virtual appliance models that vNIOS for Proxmox supports, see the *[vNIOS for Proxmox X6 Series](https://docs.infoblox.com/space/vniosspec/1857781969/vNIOS+for+Proxmox+X6+Series)* and *[vNIOS for Proxmox X5 Series](https://docs.infoblox.com/space/vniosspec/1856045372/vNIOS+for+Proxmox+X5+Series)* topics.
