Before setting up a NIOS virtual appliance as a Grid member, you must install the virtual appliance in your Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environment. Complete the prerequisites and see the following topics for steps on how to deploy a vNIOS for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure:

1. *[Uploading the vNIOS Image on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/vniosoci/pages/35443590)*
2. *[Creating a Custom Image from the Uploaded Image](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/vniosoci/pages/35411278)*

If you want to deploy the vNIOS instance as a reporting appliance, a capability available from NIOS 9.0.6, follow the steps described in *[Deploying a vNIOS for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Instance as a Reporting Appliance](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/vniosoci/pages/1335788411)*.

> ⚠️ **Note**
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ You can deploy a vNIOS for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure appliance either using a custom image or a partner image that is published by Infoblox in Marketplace, in which case you can skip the steps to upload and create a custom image. For steps to deploy, see *[Deploying vNIOS for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/vniosoci/pages/1930067977)*.
