# Deploying from Oracle Cloud Marketplace Console

To deploy a partner image published by Infoblox in the marketplace, follow the steps in this section. Skip the steps for uploading and creating a custom vNIOS image.

1. Open the Oracle Cloud Marketplace portal using the URL:  
[https://cloudmarketplace.oracle.com/marketplace/en_US/listing/95732018](https://cloudmarketplace.oracle.com/marketplace/en_US/listing/95732018)
2. Click **Get App**.
3. On the *Install Application* page, select **Commercial Marketplace** and click **Sign In**.
4. Sign in with your credentials.
5. On the *Marketplace* page, click **Launch Instance**.
6. On the *Launch Instance* page, select the compartment and the NIOS version from the drop-down lists, read and accept the terms and click **Launch Instance**.
7. Follow the instructions described in the section below from Step 4 onwards.

Deploying from Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console

To deploy vNIOS for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure after uploading and creating a vNIOS custom image, complete the following steps in the *Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console*:

> ⚠️ 
> ⚠️ - <span style="color: #000000">Oracle Cloud Infrastructure does not allow adding multiple network interface cards (VNIC) when creating an instance. But, the vNIOS appliance requires at least two network interface cards to boot successfully. Therefore, after creating the instance, manually attach a secondary VNIC and reboot the instance as explained in this section.</span>
> ⚠️ - When deploying vNIOS in high availability configuration, deploy two instances for node 1 and node 2 of the HA pair. Attach each instance with the primary, secondary, and third VNICs corresponding to the MGMT, LAN1, and HA interfaces in NIOS, respectively.

1. Click the Navigation menu icon in the upper left-hand corner.
2. Under** Core Infrastructure**, click **Compute **->** Instances**.
3. On the *Instances* page, click **Create Instance**.
4. In the *Create Compute Instance* dialog box, complete the following:
  1. **Name**: Enter a name for the instance.
  2. **Create in Compartment**: Choose the compartment in which you want to create the instance.
  3. **Placement**: Expand the section and under **Availability domain**, select the domain in which you want to create the instance.
  4. **Image and Shape**: Click **Change Image** and based on the source of the image you want to use, complete one of the following tasks to assign an image to the instance:
    - To assign the custom image that you created in the *[Creating a Custom Image](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/vniosoci/pages/35411278)* step:
      - Select **My images** -> **Custom images**.
      - From the displayed list, select the image that you created.
      - Click **Select Image**.
    - To assign an image published by Infoblox in the Marketplace:  
**Note**: You can deploy a partner image published in the marketplace either from the Marketplace console as explained in the *Deploying from Oracle Cloud Marketplace Console* section above or by selecting the partner image in this field. When deploying instances from the Marketplace, you can skip the steps to upload and create a custom image.
      - Select **Marketplace** -> **Partner images**.
      - In the displayed list, search for an image with **Infoblox Inc.** as the publisher and select it.
      - Click **Select Image**.
  5. **Image and Shape**: Click **Change shape **and depending on the NIOS version that the instance runs on, perform one of the following:
    - NIOS versions prior to 9.0.2:
      - Select **Virtual machine** -> **Specialty and previous generation**.
      - In the displayed list, select the required shape.

      - Click **Select shape**.
    - NIOS versions starting from 9.0.2:
      - Select **Virtual machine** -> **Intel**.
      - In the displayed list, select the shape: <span style="color: #172b4d">**VM.Standard3.Flex**</span>
      - Select the **Number of OCPUs** that you want to allocate to the instance..
      - Select the **Amount of memory** in GB that you want to allocate to the instance.

      - Click **Select shape**.

**Primary VNIC information**: This network interface card is assigned to the eth0 (MGMT) port of vNIOS. Complete the following:
    1. **VNIC name Optional**: Specify a name.
    2. **Primary Network**: Click **Select Existing Virtual Cloud Network** to select an existing network for the instance.
    3. **Virtual Cloud Network in <compartment_name>**: Select the compartment for the virtual cloud network.
    4. **Subnet**: Click **Select Existing Subnet** to attach the instance to an existing subnet.
    5. **Subnet in <c*****ompartment_name*****>**: Select the subnet.
    6. **Public IPv4 Address**: Select **Automatically assign a public IPv4 address** only if you want to make this IP address accessible from the internet
  7. **Boot volume**: If you want to attach an additional storage disk to this  this instance for reporting Retain the default settings. Do not modify them.
  8. **Show Advanced Options**: On the **Management** tab, select **Choose Cloud-Init Script File** or **Paste Cloud-init Script** to copy the script.

  9. **Block volumes**: Configure the following fields only if you want to set up this instance as a reporting appliance.   
Click **Attach block volume** and in the *Attach block volume* dialog box, click **Create new volume **and specify the following information:
    - **Name**: Enter a name for the volume.
    - **Create in compartment**: Choose a compartment in which to create the block volume.
    - **Volume size and performance**: Select **Custom** and specify a size in the **Volume size (in GB)** field.  
Infoblox recommends that you allocate a minimum of 250 GB of disk space for reporting storage requirements.
    - **Volume Encryption**: Select **Encrypt using Oracle-managed keys**.
    - **Attachment type**: Select **Custom **>** paravirtualized**.
    - **Access type**: Select **Read/write**.
  10. Click **Attach** to attach the new volume.  
If you deploy this instance as a regular appliance, you can set it up for reporting by adding a storage disk to the instance.   11. Click **Create**.
  12. In the *No SSH Access* dialog box, click **Yes, Create Instance Anyway** and wait for the instance to be created.  
After completion, the status of the instance on the *Instances* page changes to **Succeeded**.
5. Create and attach a secondary VNIC:
  1. Open the vNIOS instance that you created.
  2. On the *Instance Details* page, under **Resources**, click **Attached VNICs**.
  3. In the **Attached VNICs** section, click **Create VNIC** to create a secondary VNIC that must be assigned to the LAN1 port of the vNIOS appliance.
  4. In the *Create VNIC* dialog box, complete the following:
    1. **Name**: Enter a name for the VNIC.
    2. **Select a Virtual Cloud Network in <c*****ompartment_name*****>**: Choose the virtual cloud network from the drop-down list.
    3. **Select a Subnet in <c*****ompartment_name*****>**: Choose the subnet from the drop-down list.
    4. **Primary IP Information** (optional): Select **Assign a public IP address** only if you want to make this IP address accessible from the internet.
    5. Click **Save Changes** and wait for the status of the new VNIC to show as **Attached**.

Create and attach the third VNIC (required for High Availability (HA) operation):
  1. Open the vNIOS instance that you previously created.
  2. Navigate to the **Networking** tab.
  3. In the Attached VNICs section, click **Create VNIC** to add a third VNIC. This VNIC will be mapped to the HA interface of the vNIOS appliance and will host the secondary private IP (VIP).
  4. In the *Create VNIC *dialog box, provide the following information:
    1. **Name:** Enter a descriptive name for the VNIC.
    2. **Select a Virtual Cloud Network in <*****compartment_name*****>: **Choose the appropriate VCN from the drop‑down list.
    3. **Select a Subnet in <*****compartment_name*****>:** Select the subnet where the VNIC should reside. The Subnet should not be the same as selected for the creation of the two VNICs created earlier.
    4. **Primary IP Information** (optional): Enable **Assign a public IP address** only if the IP address must be accessible from the internet.
    5. Click **Submit**, and wait for the new VNIC’s status to change to **Attached**.

> ⚠️ **Note:**
> ⚠️ 
> ⚠️ - For HA operation, you must assign a secondary private IPv4 address to the VNIC.
> ⚠️ - This secondary IP functions as the failover address, enabling traffic to shift between nodes during an outage.
> ⚠️ - Ensure that the secondary IP is assigned to a single node only, do not configure it on both nodes.

To assign a secondary IP address:
  - Open the vNIOS instance that you previously created.
  - Navigate to the **Networking** tab.
  - In the *Attached VNICs* section, click the **HA** VNIC (the third NIC used for HA).
  - Go to the **IP Administration** tab.
  - Click **Assign secondary private IP address**.
  - In the *IPv4 Address* screen, under the *IPv4 address assignment* section, you may either select **Automatically assign IPv4 addresses from prefix** or manually enter a free static IPv4 address.
  - Click **Assign**.

7. On the *Instance Details* page of the vNIOS instance, click **Reboot**.
8. Select **Force reboot the instance by immediately powering off, then powering back on, **and then click **Force reboot instance** to reboot the instance.  
The reboot process of the NIOS instance takes a few minutes to complete

You can proceed to join the vNIOS for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure instance to the NIOS Grid as a Grid member or a Grid Master by using a serial console connection to the NIOS CLI. For procedure to join the instance to the Grid, refer to the *[Infoblox NIOS Documentation](https://docs.infoblox.com/space/NIOS/35400616/NIOS)*. For steps to create a serial console connection, see the below section.

# Accessing the NIOS CLI Using the Serial Console

To access the NIOS CLI, <span style="color: #000000">create a console connection to the CLI as follows:</span>

1. <span style="color: #000000">In the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console, open the navigation menu and click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Compute **</span><span style="color: #000000">-></span><span style="color: #000000">** Instances**</span><span style="color: #000000">.</span>
2. <span style="color: #000000">Open the NIOS instance that you created.</span>
3. <span style="color: #000000">On the </span><span style="color: #000000">*Instance Details*</span><span style="color: #000000"> page, under </span><span style="color: #000000">*Resources*</span><span style="color: #000000">, click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Console Connections**</span><span style="color: #000000">.</span>
  1. <span style="color: #000000">Local connection</span>
    1. <span style="color: #000000">In the right-hand panel, click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Create Local Connection**</span><span style="color: #000000">.</span>
    2. <span style="color: #000000">In the </span><span style="color: #000000">*Create Console Connection*</span><span style="color: #000000"> dialog box, select or copy the public key of the machine for which NIOS access is needed.</span>
    3. <span style="color: #000000">Click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Create Console Connection**</span><span style="color: #000000">.</span>
    4. <span style="color: #000000">On the console connection that you created, click the Actions icon (three dots), and then click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Copy Serial Console Connection for Linux/Mac**</span><span style="color: #000000"> to copy the serial console.</span>
  2. <span style="color: #000000">Cloud shell connection:</span>
    1. <span style="color: #000000">Click the </span><span style="color: #000000">**Launch Cloud Shell connection**</span><span style="color: #000000"> tab.</span>
