To upgrade from NIOS 8.4.x, 8.5.x, or 8.6.x to 9.0.4, perform the following steps:

1. Apply the NIOS-98022 hotfix. For more information, see [https://support.infoblox.com/s/article/How-to-recover-NIOS-from-old-certificate-related-issues](https://support.infoblox.com/s/article/How-to-recover-NIOS-from-old-certificate-related-issues)
2. [Download the new upgrade software](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/niosupgrade/pages/1320420017).
3. [Upload the upgrade software to the Grid Master](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/niosupgrade/pages/1321075220).
4. [Distribute the software upgrade files](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/niosupgrade/pages/1320387270).
