Use the **Create IPAM connection** workflow to establish a connection with an Infoblox NIOS IPAM appliance by specifying details of the NIOS appliance. For other IPAM workflows to run successfully, an IPAM connection must exist. Therefore, you must run this workflow before using any other workflow.

To run the Create IPAM connection workflow, complete the following steps:

1. Log in to the *VMware Aria Automation Cloud Services Console*.
2. On the **Services** tab, click **Orchestrator**.
3. In the **Dashboard** panel, <span style="color: #000000">expand </span>**Library**<span style="color: #000000"> and click </span>**Workflows**<span style="color: #000000">.</span>

4. Expand **Library** > **Infoblox**, and select **Create IPAM connection**.
5. In the top-level menu of the workflow panel, click **Run**.
6. In the **Create IPAM connection** window, specify the following:
  - **ID**: the ID of the connection.
  - **URL**: the URL to access the NIOS Grid.
  - **Username**: the user name required to access the NIOS Grid.
  - **Password**: the password required to access the NIOS Grid.
  - <span style="color: #000000">**Priority**</span>: the priority assigned to this IPAM connection.
  - **API Type**: Choose the **WAPI** or **CLOUD_API**.
  - Click **Run**.  
When the workflow completes successfully, the status on the *Create IPAM connection* page is updated to **Completed**.

# Checking the IPAM Connection

To check whether an IPAM connection has been established:

1. In the **Dashboard** panel, expand the **Administration** tab and click **Inventory**.
2. In the *Inventory* window, expand **Infoblox IPAM** to view the entry for the connection.
3. Click the name of the connection to check its details.
