To ensure interoperability of VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator with the VMware Aria Automation Provider for NIOS DDI, you must import valid SSL certificates from the NIOS appliance into VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator.

> ⚠️ - If your existing NIOS/vNIOS certificate is expired, you can generate a self-signed NIOS/vNIOS certificate for testing. To generate:
> ⚠️   - In the NIOS Grid Manager, select > **Grid** > **Grid Manager** > **Members** > *member* checkbox.
> ⚠️   - From the Toolbar select **Certificates** > **HTTPS Cert** > **Generate Self-Signed Certificate** checkbox.
> ⚠️ - To access VMware Aria Automation Provider for NIOS DDI using an IP address, you must specify the IP address as the Subject Alternative Name when generating the self-signed certificate in the Infoblox Grid. Otherwise, you will be able to access the plug-in using only the FQDN.

To import the SSL certificate into VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator version 8.17 or prior, complete the following steps:

1. Log in to the *VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator Control Center*.
2. Click **Certificates**.
3. On the **Trusted Certificates** tab, in the **Import** drop-down list, select one of the following:
  1. **Import from URL** and enter the IP address.
  2. **Import from a PEM-encoded file** and select the certificate file for the NIOS appliance.
4. Click **Import**, and then click **Import** again to confirm.  
The new SSL certificate appears in the **Trusted SSL Certificates** list.
