With the IP address association resources you can update host records created using the *[IP address allocation](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ipamdriverterraform/pages/53154100)* resources with details of VMs created in the cloud environment for those host records. <span style="color: #000000">The IP address association flow is a three-step process:</span>

1. <span style="color: #000000">The </span><span style="color: #000000">*[IP address allocation](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ipamdriverterraform/pages/53154100)*</span><span style="color: #000000"> resources allocate an IP address by creating a host record in NIOS.</span>
2. <span style="color: #000000">The IP address is then assigned to the interface created in the cloud environment, and then a VM is created.</span>
3. <span style="color: #000000">Details of the VM are populated into the host record in NIOS using the IP address association resource.</span>

Use the `infoblox_ip_association` resource to associate IPv4 and/or IPv6 addresses.

> ⚠️ The `Infoblox_ipv4_association` and `Infoblox_ipv6_association` resources have been deprecated. They are not supported from Infoblox IPAM Plug-In for Terraform version 2.3.0.
