Use this discovery method if you want a unified view of discovered assets for both on-premise NIOS Grid deployments and cloud-managed Universal DDI deployments.

Before using NIOS Grid Connector for asset discovery, configure and set it up properly. For more information, see *[Configuring NIOS Grid Connector](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BloxOneDDI/pages/186843293)*.

## Infoblox Threat Defense Licenses

NIOS Grid Connector discovery jobs are automatically created for accounts with one of the following valid Threat Defense licenses:

- Infoblox Threat Defense Cloud
- Infoblox Threat Defense Advanced
- Security Token (coming soon)

> ⚠️ Discovery data updates for DNS and IPAM are not supported if your account is configured with only the Infoblox Threat Defense license entitlement.

Ensure that you create only the NIOS Grid Connector Service for the corresponding NIOS Grid Connector discovery job associated with the above licenses. Once the NIOS Grid Connector Service is created, the corresponding discovery job will be enabled immediately.

> 📝 For accounts with both the Threat Defense and Universal DDI licenses, providing the **Destination IP Space ID** for automatically created discovery jobs is mandatory; without it, the discovery jobs will not be enabled.

## Universal DDI and DDI Licenses

For all exclusive Universal DDI and DDI accounts, complete the following steps to create a network discovery configuration for discovering NIOS assets:

- Go to **Integrations **>** Discovery **>** On-Prem**. You must enable network discovery on the NIOS Grid before creating a network discovery configuration in Universal DDI. For more information, see *[IP Discovery and vDiscovery](https://docs.infoblox.com/space/nios90/280267936/IP+Discovery+and+vDiscovery)*.
- Click **Create > NIOS Grid Connector**.

Configure the following settings in the wizard:
