Before modifying passive discovery jobs, review the table below to see how license entitlements affect job behavior.

| **License Entitlements** | **Can users edit Passive Discovery jobs?** | **Job behavior** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Universal DDI only | Yes | Users can edit discovery jobs. |
| Threat Defense only | No | The passive discovery job is created automatically by default. You cannot edit the job or modify the **Manage Assets** field because it is unavailable. |
| Threat Defense and Universal DDI | No | The passive discovery job is created automatically. You can only toggle **Manage Assets** to **Enabled** or **Disabled**. You cannot edit other fields or delete the passive discovery job |

To modify a passive discovery job:

1. Log in to the Infoblox Portal.
2. Go to **Integrations > Discovery > On-Prem**.
3. Choose the Passive Discovery job you want to edit.
4. In the **Edit Passive Discovery** dialog, do the following:

- **State**: Move the switch to **Enable** or **Disable** the discovery. Depending on your account’s subscriptions, you may not be able to enable or disable the discovery job. For information, see *[Passive Discovery](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/UniversalAssetInsights/pages/1608615408)*.
- **Manage Assets**: By default, the toggle is set to** Enabled**. The behavior of this field varies depending on your licensing entitlement as follows:
  - **Threat Defense Only**: The **Manage Assets** field is not available and you cannot edit the passive discovery job.
  - **Threat Defense and Universal DDI**: The **Manage Assets** field is toggled to **Disabled** by default. Consequently, all newly discovered assets are categorized as **Unmanaged**. When disabled, assets discovered by this job will be added as unmanaged and will not consume management tokens.
  - **Universal DDI Only: **The **Manage Assets** field is toggled to **Disabled** by default. Consequently, all newly discovered assets are categorized as **Managed**. When enabled, assets discovered by this job will be added as managed and will consume management tokens.
- **Name**: Edit the name of this discovery job.
- **Description**: Edit the information about the discovery job.

> ⚠️ Passive Discovery jobs automatically created for users that have Threat Defense and Universal UDDI entitlements before Nov 14, 2025 have **Manage Assets** set to **Enabled** by default. If you do not want newly discovered assets to be managed, toggle **Manage Assets** to **Disable**. During the next discovery cycle, all new assets will be added to **Unmanage** and all existing assets will be moved from **Manage** to **Unmanage**.

Under the **Type** section, do the following:

**DHCP**: Use the switch to enable or disable the discovery of assets through DHCP logs. When you enable discovery through DHCP logs, you must select at least one of the following:

- **NIOS-X**: Select this to discover NIOS-X physical or virtual servers. For information on NIOS-X servers, see *[Deploying NIOS-X Servers](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BloxOneInfrastructure/pages/204800163)*.
- **NIOS**: Select this to discover on-premises NIOS Grids.

**Infoblox Endpoint**: Use the switch to enable or disable the discovery of all Infoblox managed endpoints.
