Universal Asset Insights enables organizations to gain visibility into their network by discovering assets across various environments and integrating discovery data into the Infoblox Portal. The discovery process continuously collects and analyzes data about network devices and activity, forming the foundation for actionable insights related to performance, usage, and security.

Once discovery is configured, the system monitors the lifecycle of devices and services, generating alerts, surfacing anomalies, and supporting incident response workflows. These insights are made available through dashboards, logs, and detailed reports that help users track and analyze network behavior over time.

You can configure discovery from the following types of sources:

- **On-Premises**: Discovery is facilitated via the *NIOS Grid Connector* and *Network Insight* services. The NIOS Grid Connector enables communication with NIOS Grids and appliances, while Network Insight discovers devices directly within the local environment. Additionally, *Infoblox Passive Discovery*, in combination with *SOC Insights*, leverages DHCP logs and endpoint data to detect and profile assets.
- **Cloud**: Discovery can be configured for cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. This allows Infoblox to collect metadata and asset information from public cloud workloads and infrastructure.
- **Third-Party Sources**: Integration with external platforms like *CrowdStrike* and *ServiceNow* allows you to import discovered asset data and enrich the insights available within the Infoblox Portal.

The *[Monitor Lifecycle Dashboard](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/createpage.action?spaceKey=universalassetinsights&title=Viewing%20Asset%20Insights%20via%20the%20Monitoring%20Lifecycle&linkCreation=true&fromPageId=1501397339)* provides a centralized interface to view this discovery data and resulting insights. It supports continuous monitoring, incident analysis, and operational reporting to ensure optimal network performance and threat detection.

The following diagram shows the architecture of Universal Asset Insights:
