### **Purpose**

Since Infoblox NIOS is hosted on-premises, Cortex XSOAR (which runs in the cloud) cannot communicate with it directly.
The **Cortex Engine** acts as a secure bridge between **XSOAR Cloud** and your **on-prem NIOS Grid Master** to execute API calls safely.

### **Steps to Configure and Download the Engine**

#### ** Navigate to Engines**

1. In Cortex XSOAR, go to
**Settings → Integrations → Engines**
2. The *Engines* page lists all existing engines and their connectivity status.

#### **Create a New Engine**

1. Click **➕ Create New Engine** (top right).
2. Provide:
  - **Name:** e.g., `Nios Engine`
  - **Host:** (auto-detected after install)

#### **Download the Installer**

1. Once created, click **Download Installer** next to the new engine entry.
2. Choose the appropriate operating system for your environment:
  - Linux
  - Windows
  - macOS
3. An .sh (for Linux/macOS) or `.exe` (for Windows) installer file will be downloaded.

#### **Install the Engine**

- **For Linux/macOS:**
- **For Windows:**
  - Run the downloaded `.exe` as Administrator and follow the prompts.

> During installation, the engine automatically registers with your Cortex tenant using a unique authentication token embedded in the installer.

#### **Verify Connectivity**

After installation:

1. Return to the **Engines** page.
2. The **Connected** column should display `True`.
3. **Status** should show **Up to date** (as in your screenshot).
4. If it shows *False* or *Upgrade Required*, click **Upgrade Engine** or re-download the latest installer.

#### **Assign the Engine to Your Integration**

When configuring **Infoblox NIOS Integration**:

1. Under *Run on Engine*, select your engine name (e.g., `Nios Engine`).
2. Click **Test Connectivity** to confirm the engine can reach the on-prem NIOS API endpoint.

### **Result**

Once configured, Cortex XSOAR will securely send API requests **via the NIOS Engine** to your on-prem Grid Master — enabling full automation for DNS, DHCP, and IPAM tasks.
