<span style="color: #000000">When necessary, you can reset the B1-212 appliance to the factory default using one of the following methods:</span>

- <span style="color: #000000">USB flash drive</span>
- <span style="color: #000000">Device UI</span>

> ⚠️ 
> ⚠️ When you reset the appliance, all configurations and software/patch versions on the appliance will be reset to the factory default.

# <span style="color: #000000">Resetting via a USB Flash Drive</span>  


<span style="color: #000000">To reset the B1-212 appliance using a USB flash drive, do the following:</span>

1. <span style="color: #000000">Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port of the B1-212 appliance. </span>
2. <span style="color: #000000">Obtain a USB flash drive that supports FAT32 (for Windows) or EXT4 (for Linux) file system. </span>
3. <span style="color: #000000">Add an empty file called “</span><span style="color: #000000">*dofactoryreset*</span><span style="color: #000000">” to the USB flash drive by doing one of the following:</span>
  1. <span style="color: #000000">From the Infoblox Portal, download the “</span><span style="color: #000000">*dofactoryreset*</span><span style="color: #000000">” file to the USB by clicking </span>**System**<span style="color: #000000"> > </span><span style="color: #000000">**Downloads**</span><span style="color: #000000"> > </span><span style="color: #000000">**Download Factory Reset**</span><span style="color: #000000">.</span>
  2. <span style="color: #000000">For Linux, create a file called “</span><span style="color: #000000">*dofactoryreset*</span><span style="color: #000000">” in the root file system of the USB.</span>
4. <span style="color: #000000">Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port of the B1-212 appliance.</span>
5. <span style="color: #000000">The appliance detects the settings on the USB flash drive and begins performing the factory reset operation. </span>
6. <span style="color: #000000">During the reset process, the appliance reboots and resets itself to the default configuration. </span>
7. <span style="color: #000000">Once the reset process is complete, you can set up and reconfigure the appliance, as described in </span><span style="color: #000000">*[Deploying the B1-212 Physical Server](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/createpage.action?spaceKey=BloxOneInfrastructure&title=Deploying%20the%20B1-212%20Physical%20Server)*</span><span style="color: #000000">.</span>

> ⚠️ 
> ⚠️ If you use a USB drive that contains a previously downloaded or created “*dofactoryreset*” file, ensure that you change the timestamp of the file before resetting your B1-212 appliance. Otherwise, you will not be able to reset the appliance. On a Linux system, you can use the "touch" command to change the timestamp of the file. You can also remove the old file and download a new one from the Infoblox Portal.

# <span style="color: #000000">Resetting via the Device UI</span>  


<span style="color: #000000">To reset the B1-212 appliance using the Device UI, do the following: </span>

1. <span style="color: #000000">Log in to the Infoblox Portal.</span>
2. <span style="color: #000000">Click </span>**Network** > **Services & Servers**<span style="color: #000000"> > </span><span style="color: #000000">**Servers**</span><span style="color: #000000">.</span>
3. <span style="color: #000000">On the </span><span style="color: #000000">**Hosts**</span><span style="color: #000000"> page, select the NIOS-X server you want to configure.</span>
4. <span style="color: #000000">Click the </span><span style="color: #000000">**...**</span><span style="color: #000000"> drop-down menu, and then select </span><span style="color: #000000">**Local Access**</span><span style="color: #000000"> to enable local access to the B1-212 appliance.</span>
5. <span style="color: #000000">In the </span><span style="color: #000000">**Enable Local Access**</span><span style="color: #000000"> dialog, click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Enable**</span><span style="color: #000000">. Local access to the appliance is granted for two hours. Note that enabling local access to the B1-212 appliance allows you to reset the NIOS-X server using the Device UI.</span>
6. <span style="color: #000000">Log in to the Device UI by following the steps below:</span>
  - <span style="color: #000000">Open the internet browser on the workstation. </span>
  - <span style="color: #000000">Enter the IP address of the server <https://<Server> IP address>. </span>
  - <span style="color: #000000">If you cannot access the IP address by using https://, try using http://.</span>  
<span style="color: #000000">Note that if there was no DHCP server available in your network, and you did not configure a static IP when you initially set up your server, the server will fall back to the default IP address 192.168.1.2. For information about the Device UI, see </span><span style="color: #000000">*[Troubleshooting Servers](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BloxOneInfrastructure/pages/184681229)*</span><span style="color: #000000">.</span>
7. <span style="color: #000000">Click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Administration**</span><span style="color: #000000"> > </span><span style="color: #000000">**Reset Host**</span><span style="color: #000000"> from the left pane menu.</span>
8. <span style="color: #000000">On the</span><span style="color: #000000">** Administration**</span><span style="color: #000000"> page, click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Reset for Factory Reset**</span><span style="color: #000000">.</span>
9. <span style="color: #000000">In the </span><span style="color: #000000">*Confirm your action*</span><span style="color: #000000"> dialog, complete the following:</span>
  - <span style="color: #000000">**Enter your password: **</span>Enter the last 8 characters of the serial number mentioned on the Service Tag of B1-212 appliance. If the serial number is less than 8 characters long, enter the whole serial number. Note that the password is case-sensitive.
10. <span style="color: #000000">Click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Confirm**</span><span style="color: #000000"> to proceed with the factory reset.</span>
11. <span style="color: #000000">Once the reset process is complete, you can set up and reconfigure the appliance, as described in </span><span style="color: #000000">*[Deploying the B1-212 Physical Server](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/createpage.action?spaceKey=BloxOneInfrastructure&title=Deploying%20the%20B1-212%20Physical%20Server)*</span><span style="color: #000000">.</span><span style="color: #ff0000"> </span>
