Before running tests, you should be aware of the following requirements:

- The tool needs direct IP access to the DNS servers it’s testing, and the DNS servers that serve the zones it’s testing.  By default, the tool will run infrastructure tests (which includes most of the security tests) against the DNS server the device it’s running on is configured to query.  To override this, you can enter the IP address of the DNS server you want to test in the field labeled “Alternate name server to query for infrastructure tests:” on the “Exceptions” tab.
- Many of the zone tests the tool conducts only work if the tool can transfer the zone from one of its authoritative DNS servers.  If at all possible, configure one of the zone’s authoritative DNS servers to allow transfers to the IP address from which the tool is running before testing.  You can disallow transfers after the tests are complete.
