To create a join token, do the following:

1. Log in to the Infoblox Portal.
2. Click the **System** > **Administration** > **Join Tokens** tab, and then click **Create**.
3. In the **Create Token** dialog, specify the following:
  - **Name**: Enter a name for the new token.
  - **Description**: Enter a description for the token.
  - **TAGS**: Click **Add** and specify the following to associate a key with the server:
    - **KEY**: Enter a meaningful name for the key, such as a location or a department.
    - **VALUE**: Enter a value for the key. For details, see *[Managing Tags](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BloxOneCloud/pages/35397076)*.
4. Click **Save & Close**.
5. The join token string appears in the **Copy Token?** dialog box. Click **Copy** to copy the token string, and save it in a place where you can find it later. You will need it when you configure your NIOS-X virtual servers as part of future deployments.

> 📝 **Note**: The join token you created appears only once in the dialog box. After you close the dialog, you will not be able to retrieve the token.
