Infoblox supports the deployment of NIOS‑X v4.1.12 ISO only on the following hardware servers:

- Dell VEP-1425
- Dell VEP-1485

Installing NIOS‑X v4.1.12 on hardware servers other than those listed above is not supported, even if the hardware can be provisioned from the Infoblox Portal.

To install NIOS‑X v4.1.12 on supported hardware, complete the following steps. These instructions apply whether you are installing on a new appliance (fresh installation) or upgrading an existing appliance currently running NIOS‑X (Bloxone) v3.x.

## Glossary

- **New appliance:**  
A hardware appliance that does not contain any existing NIOS‑X image or configuration.
- **Old appliance:**  
An existing appliance currently running NIOS-X (Bloxone) v3.x.
- **Fresh installation:**  
The process of installing NIOS‑X v4.1.12 on a new appliance with no prior NIOS‑X software or configuration.
- **Upgrade installation (v3.x to v4.1.12):**  
The process of upgrading an existing appliance from NIOS-X (Bloxone) v3.x to NIOS‑X v4.1.12, with the option to restore bootstrap configurations during installation.
- **Config restore:**  
An optional step during the upgrade installation that migrates the host configuration from NIOS-X (Bloxone) v3.x to NIOS‑X v4.1.12 during ISO installation, eliminating the need to manually reconfigure host settings afterward.
