To efficiently handle protocol service traffic, utilize service instances to associate your services with particular network interfaces.

When setting up a protocol service, you choose a NIOS-X server on which you want to run the service. You can reassign or transfer the service to another NIOS-X server after you set up the service. This feature is useful if you need to update your network infrastructure or decommission a particular server.

> ⚠️ Network Discovery service cannot co-exist with other services. If you are deploying Network Discovery Service on a NIOS-X Server, create a separate NIOS-X Server for other services such as DNS, DHCP, Data Connector, Anycast, DNS Forwarding Proxy, MSAD Sync, and NTP.

Use the following steps to create these protocol services: **Data Connector**, **DHCP**, and **DNS**. For other protocol services, refer to their respective documentation.

> 📝 The interface binding feature is currently unavailable for the **NIOS Grid Connector** service. The** Create <*****Service*****>** wizard will guide you through the applicable steps when creating a service.

To create a supported service instance, do the following:

1. Log in to the Infoblox Portal.
2. Go to **Network > Services & Servers > Protocol Service**.
3. Click **Create Service**.
4. From the drop down menu, select the protocol service you want to create.
5. In the **Create <Service>** wizard, follow the steps in the wizard to create the service.
