<span style="color: #000000">All zones reside within a DNS view. You can create multiple DNS views and create zones within each DNS view. If there is only one DNS view, the zones in the view are displayed automatically. If there are multiple DNS views, you must click the particular DNS view to view the zones.</span> <span style="color: #000000">You can associate an IP space with a DNS view, so all DNS records can be automatically listed as related objects in the corresponding subnets.</span>

<span style="color: #000000">In the hierarchical view, the sub-zones are nested within the zone in a hierarchical structure. In the flat zone view, you can view the zones, including the nested ones in a single list. For example, the NIOS-X Server called </span><span style="color: #000000">[server1.infoblox.com](http://server1.infoblox.com/)</span><span style="color: #000000"> contains two A records and an ALIAS (which is a NIOS-X Server naming convention for CNAME records). If you view the </span><span style="color: #000000">[infoblox.com](http://infoblox.com/)</span><span style="color: #000000"> zone using the hierarchical view option, you will see one entry NIOS-X Server for </span><span style="color: #000000">[server1.infoblox.com](http://server1.infoblox.com/)</span><span style="color: #000000">. In the flat view, you will see three records (one for each IP address/A record, and one NIOS-X Server Alias for the CNAME). </span>

<span style="color: #000000">To view the list of zones in the flat zone view, complete the following:</span>

1. From the Infoblox Portal, click **Network** > <span style="color: #000000">**DNS**</span> > <span style="color: #000000">**Zones**</span>.
2. <span style="color: #000000">Toggle </span><span style="color: #000000">**Flat Zone View**</span><span style="color: #000000"> to </span><span style="color: #000000">**ON**</span><span style="color: #000000">. </span>
3. <span style="color: #000000">Universal DDI displays the following information for all zones and subzones as a single list:</span>
  - <span style="color: #000000">**NAME**</span><span style="color: #000000">: The name of the zone. Click on the name of the zone to view the list of subzones associated with it.</span>
  - <span style="color: #000000">**DNS NAME**</span><span style="color: #000000">: The URL, for example, </span><span style="color: #000000">[test.com](http://google.com)</span><span style="color: #000000">. </span>
  - <span style="color: #000000">**TYPE**</span><span style="color: #000000">: Indicates the type of the zone, Primary, Secondary, or Forward.</span>
  - <span style="color: #000000">**DESCRIPTION**</span><span style="color: #000000">: Information about the zone.</span>

<span style="color: #000000">You can also perform the following in this tab:</span>

- <span style="color: #000000">Click the menu button, </span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

<span style="color: #000000">, to select the columns to display.</span>
- <span style="color: #000000">You can also group the zones on the page by clicking </span><span style="color: #000000">**All Zones**</span><span style="color: #000000"> and selecting either </span><span style="color: #000000">**Authoritative **</span><span style="color: #000000">or </span><span style="color: #000000">**Forward **</span><span style="color: #000000">from the drop-down list. The application displays only the selected type of zones.</span>
- <span style="color: #000000">Click the menu button, </span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

<span style="color: #000000">, and then </span><span style="color: #000000">**Edit**</span><span style="color: #000000">, or select the check box for the respective record and click the </span><span style="color: #000000">**Edit **</span><span style="color: #000000">button to modify a zone.</span>
- <span style="color: #000000">Select a zone to view the details on the right-hand panel. You can view details like </span><span style="color: #000000">**name**</span><span style="color: #000000">, </span><span style="color: #000000">**description**</span><span style="color: #000000">, </span><span style="color: #000000">**type**</span><span style="color: #000000">, </span><span style="color: #000000">**tags**</span><span style="color: #000000">, </span><span style="color: #000000">**status**</span><span style="color: #000000">, and the </span><span style="color: #000000">**number of DNS servers**</span><span style="color: #000000"> associated with it. If you do not want to view the details, click the information button,</span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

- <span style="color: #003300">Enter the value that you want to search in the </span><span style="color: #003300">**Search**</span><span style="color: #003300"> text box. Universal DDI displays the list of items matching the keyword in the database. You can search by </span><span style="color: #003300">**Name**</span><span style="color: #003300">, </span><span style="color: #003300">**Description**</span><span style="color: #003300">, or </span><span style="color: #003300">**Tags **</span><span style="color: #003300">(Tag key and/or Tag value). </span>
- <span style="color: #000000">Click the filter button,</span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

<span style="color: #000000">, to filter the objects by </span><span style="color: #000000">**name**</span><span style="color: #000000">, </span><span style="color: #000000">**type**</span><span style="color: #000000">, and </span><span style="color: #000000">**description**</span><span style="color: #000000">. To save a filter after selecting the required parameters click the save button, </span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

<span style="color: #000000">, specify a name for the filter, and click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Save & Close**</span><span style="color: #000000">. To reload a previously saved filter, click the start button, </span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

<span style="color: #000000">, and select the required filter. </span>
- <span style="color: #000000">Click the menu button, </span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

<span style="color: #000000">, and then </span><span style="color: #000000">**Move to Recycle Bin**</span><span style="color: #000000"> to move the object to the recycle bin. You can restore the object later or delete it permanently as required. > ⚠️ You must delete DNS zones and RPZ before deleting DNS views.
