<span style="color: #000000">Before enabling the NIOS Grid Connector service, you must establish connectivity between NIOS and the Infoblox Portal. </span>

<span style="color: #000000">To establish connectivity between the Infoblox Portal and NIOS, complete the following:</span>

1. <span style="color: #000000">Create a Join Token in the Infoblox Portal or use an existing one. For more information, see </span><span style="color: #000000">*[Configuring Join Tokens](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BloxOneInfrastructure/pages/87229997)*</span><span style="color: #000000">.</span>
2. <span style="color: #000000">Copy the Join Token from the Infoblox Portal.</span>
3. <span style="color: #000000">Sign in to NIOS.</span>
4. <span style="color: #000000">Navigate to the</span><span style="color: #000000">** Grid > Grid Manager**</span><span style="color: #000000">. </span>
5. <span style="color: #000000">Select a single device in NIOS. This device must be a Grid Manager, Grid Manager Candidate, or Standalone appliance. It is recommended to select the Grid Manager Candidate. </span>
6. <span style="color: #000000">Click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Edit**</span><span style="color: #000000">. </span>
7. <span style="color: #000000">Click </span><span style="color: #000000">**Infoblox **</span>**Portal Configuration**<span style="color: #000000">.</span>
8. Configure the following in the **Infoblox Portal Configuration** tab<span style="color: #000000">.</span>
  1. <span style="color: #000000">**Join Token**</span><span style="color: #000000">: Paste the Join Token you copied from the Infoblox Portal here.</span>
  2. **Custom Resolver**: Specify the IP address of a DNS server that can resolve public *.infoblox.com domains. Default is 52.119.41.100<span style="color: #000000">. </span>
  3. **HTTP Proxy**<span style="color: #000000">: Specify the HTTPS proxy. If your network environment does not allow direct HTTP or HTTPS communication with the Internet through a firewall from a secure location in which the Grid Manager or standalone appliance resides, you can configure your appliance to use a proxy server. 9. Click **Test Settings** to verify the configuration.
  Click **Save & Close**.
11. If you need the NIOS Grid Connector service, deploy it from the Infoblox Portal. Navigate to **Network** > **Services & Servers** > **Servers **>** [Server Name] **>** Create Service **>** NIOS Grid Connector**. Before enabling the NIOS Grid Connector service, ensure connectivity between NIOS and the Infoblox Portal has been established.  
If you are converting an Infoblox X6 hardware appliance from NIOS to NIOS-X, do not enable the NIOS Grid Connector service. After a Grid Manager is added to the Infoblox Portal, all grid members appear in the Portal. Members that cannot communicate with the Portal display a status of **Offline (Not registered)**.

> ⚠️ <span style="color: #000000">Configure </span><span style="color: #000000">**Infoblox Portal**</span><span style="color: #000000"> settings in </span><span style="color: #000000">**Grid Member Properties**</span><span style="color: #000000"> tab in Grid Manager for the Grid Manager, Grid Manager Candidate, or Standalone appliance to show the particular device on the </span><span style="color: #000000">*Manage > Infrastructure*</span><span style="color: #000000"> page in Infoblox Portal. </span>

> ⚠️ <span style="color: #000000">Do not configure </span><span style="color: #000000">**Infoblox Portal **</span><span style="color: #000000">settings in the </span><span style="color: #000000">**Grid Properties**</span><span style="color: #000000"> tab. Configuring </span><span style="color: #000000">**Infoblox Portal **</span><span style="color: #000000">settings in the </span><span style="color: #000000">**Grid Properties**</span><span style="color: #000000"> tab shows all the devices in the entire grid on the </span><span style="color: #000000">*Manage > Infrastructure*</span><span style="color: #000000"> page in the Infoblox Portal. </span>
