<span style="color: #000000">An IP space is a storage for IP addresses that are unique to a particular space. It is a single routing domain with its own IP addresses. All IP addresses must belong to an IP space. You can manage IP addresses in one IP space independently of another; changes made in one IP space are not reflected in other IP spaces. Because IP spaces are mutually exclusive, the addresses in each IP space can have overlapping address spaces with multiple duplicate IP addresses, and this does not affect the network integrity. Once you create an IP space, you can </span>*<span style="color: #000000">[make copies of it](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BloxOneDDI/pages/186401544)</span>*<span style="color: #000000">.</span>

<span style="color: #172b4d">You can allocate specific address spaces to a compartment to further segregate IP addresses for divisional use. For information about compartments, see</span><span style="color: #000000"> </span>*<span style="color: #000000">[Configuring Compartments](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BloxOneDDI/pages/684491234)</span>*<span style="color: #000000">. </span>

The IP space of a DHCP NIOS-X Server or an HA group is determined by the first subnet or an address range assigned to it. All subsequent assignments must match the first subnet or an address range that is assigned. The application displays an error message if a subnet or an address range with an inconsistent IP space is assigned to a NIOS-X Server. To modify an IP space, you must first remove all assignments and then assign an object from a different space.

For example, two corporations, Corp 100 and Corp 200, merge and have the following network configuration:

- Each has its own networks and DNS domains.
- Each has its own private IP spaces in the 10.0.0.0/24 network.
- Each has its own DHCP and DNS servers and uses dynamic DNS updates. The DHCP servers of each corporation serve IP addresses for networks in their respective corporations.
- The DHCP clients in each corporation update DNS zones within their DNS domains.

<span style="color: #111111">The two corporations plan to migrate the networks and NIOS-X Servers from the address space Corp 200 to the address space Corp 100 and the </span>[<span style="color: #111111">corpxyz.com</span>](http://corpxyz.com)<span style="color: #111111"> domain. To support both networks in the meantime and to facilitate the migration, you can configure Universal DDI to manage the networks and domains of both corporations. As shown in the following diagram, you can configure a NIOS-X Server for each corporation and manage their networks independently. NIOS-X Server 1 serves DNS and DHCP to Corp 100. The networks of Corp 100 are contained in the Corp 100 IP space, which is associated with the internal and external DNS views of the </span>[<span style="color: #111111">corpxyz.com</span>](http://corpxyz.com)<span style="color: #111111"> domain. NIOS-X Server 2 serves DNS and DHCP to Corp 200. The networks of Corp 200 are in the Corp 200 IP space, which is associated with both the internal and external DNS views of the </span>[<span style="color: #111111">corp200.com</span>](http://corp200.com)<span style="color: #111111"> domain. The two corporations have one overlapping network, 10.1.1.0/24.</span>

To view the list of IP spaces, do the following:

1. From the Infoblox Portal, click **Network > IPAM/DHCP** **>** **Address Spaces**.
2. Universal DDI displays the following information:

- **<span style="color: #000000">NAME</span>**<span style="color: #000000">: The name of the IP space. If a DNS view is associated with the IP space, the name of the IP space is populated from DNS automatically.  </span>
- **<span style="color: #000000">DESCRIPTION</span>**<span style="color: #000000">: Additional information about the IP space.</span>
- **<span style="color: #000000">UTILIZATION</span>**<span style="color: #000000">: The percentage of the total IPv4 DHCP utilization of the IP space. This is the percentage of the total number of DHCP NIOS-X Servers, fixed addresses, address ranges, and leases assigned to the IP space, versus the total number of IP addresses and all DHCP objects assigned to the IP space. This percentage does not include abandoned addresses or leases.</span>
  - **<span style="color: #000000">Red</span>**<span style="color: #000000">: The DHCP resources are 76%-100% utilized.</span>
  - **<span style="color: #000000">Orange</span>**<span style="color: #000000">: The DHCP resources are 51%-75% utilized.</span>
  - **<span style="color: #000000">Green</span>**<span style="color: #000000">: The DHCP resources are 0%-50% utilized.</span>
- **<span style="color: #000000">USAGE</span>**<span style="color: #000000">: Indicates what the address space is used for, such as </span>**<span style="color: #000000">IPAM</span>**<span style="color: #000000"> or </span>**<span style="color: #000000">DHCP</span>**<span style="color: #000000"> or both.</span>
- **<span style="color: #172b4d">COMPARTMENT</span>**<span style="color: #172b4d">: The name of the compartment that is associated with this IP space. For more information, see </span>*<span style="color: #000000">[Configuring Compartments](https://infoblox-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BloxOneDDI/pages/684491234)</span>*<span style="color: #000000">. </span>

> ⚠️ To populate the Discovered Data fields, you must first configure Universal Asset Insights. The Discovered Data fields will only be displayed if the Discovery Service is running. The Discovered data fields cannot be edited manually or through CSV import. <span style="color: #000000">, then </span>**<span style="color: #000000">Edit</span>**<span style="color: #000000">, or select the checkbox for the respective record, and click the Edit button to modify an IP space.</span>
- <span style="color: #000000">Select an IP space to view additional details, such as tags, leases, DHCP options, and filters. If you do not want to view the details in the panel on the right, click the information button, </span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

- <span style="color: #000000">Click the utilization details button,</span><span style="color: #e8e6e3"> </span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

<span style="color: #000000">, view the IP space’s utilization details, or click the tabular view button, </span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

<span style="color: #000000">, to view the details in a tabular format.</span>
- In the **Search** text box, enter the value that you want to search by. Universal DDI displays the list of items matching the keyword in the database. You can search by **Name**, **Description**, or **Tags **(the Tag key and/or Tag value). You cannot search by **IPv4 Utilization**.
- <span style="color: #000000">Click the filter button,</span><span style="color: #cdc8c2"> </span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

<span style="color: #000000">, to filter the objects by </span>**<span style="color: #000000">name</span>**<span style="color: #000000"> and </span>**<span style="color: #000000">description</span>**<span style="color: #000000">. To save a filter after selecting the required parameters click </span>**<span style="color: #000000">Save Filter</span>**<span style="color: #000000">, specify a name for the filter, and click </span>**<span style="color: #000000">Save</span>**<span style="color: #000000">. To reload a previously saved filter, click the saved filters button,</span><span style="color: #e8e6e3"> </span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

<span style="color: #000000">, and select the required filter. </span>
- <span style="color: #000000">Click the menu button, </span>> Macro (inline-media-image)

<span style="color: #000000">, then </span>**<span style="color: #000000">Move to Recycle Bin</span>**<span style="color: #000000"> to move the object to the recycle bin. You can restore the object later or delete it permanently. You can perform the following actions:

> Macro (children)
