An NS record identifies an authoritative DNS server for a domain. Each authoritative DNS server must have an NS record. Universal DDI automatically creates NS records based on the name server or the name server group assigned to the zone. You cannot edit an automatically generated NS record. However, you can edit the comment field. Note that when you delete a name server from an NS group, the NS record associated with the name server is deleted. You can manually create NS records for other zones. Universal DDI automatically generates an A and PTR record from name servers that are defined in a zone. Auto-generated A and PTR records cannot be edited or deleted, apart from the comment and tag fields.
