In situations where you need to access a physical host through the Device UI to reset it to factory default, you can enable local access to these hosts without disconnecting them from BloxOne Cloud.

Note

If you make configuration changes through local access, ensure that you use the same join token you used to initially configure the on-prem host. Otherwise, a new on-prem host will be created if you use a new join token.

Enabling Local Access

To enable local access to an on-prem host, complete the following:

  1. Log in to the Cloud Services Portal.
  2. Click Manage -> On-Prem Hosts.
  3. On the On-Prem Hosts page, select the on-prem host you want to configure.
  4. Click the On-Prem Hosts drop-down menu, and then select Local Access to enable local access to the on-prem host.
  5. In the Enable Local Access dialog, complete the following:
    • Username: Enter "admin" as the login user name for the on-prem host.
    • Password: Enter the last eight characters of the serial number for the on-prem host. This includes all special characters in the last eight digits of the serial number. For example, if your serial number is AxYz14-893-756, you should enter -893-768.
      • For physical on-prem hosts (BloxOne Appliance), you can get the serial number through the Cloud Services Portal. The serial number is also printed on the physical appliance itself and is available through the appliance console (if you connect the appliance to a monitor).
      • For virtual hosts (BloxOne VM), you can get the serial number when you connect to the virtual console.
      • For bare-metal host deployment (BloxOne Container), the serial number is the OPHID of the host. Infoblox recommends that you obtain this OPHID when you first deployed the host and keep it handy for future reference. For information, see Viewing On-Prem Host Status.
  6. Click Enable. Local access to the on-prem host is granted for two hours.

Disabling Local Access

  2. Click Manage -> On-Prem Hosts.
  3. On the On-Prem Hosts page, select the on-prem host to which you want to disable local access.
  4. Click the On-Prem Hosts drop-down menu, and then select Local Access to disable local access to the on-prem host.
  5. In the Disable Local Access dialog, complete the following:

      • For virtual hosts (BloxOne VM), you can get the serial number when you connect to the virtual console.

  6. Click Disable. Local access to the on-prem host is disabled.
